Breathe… something I need to remember to do!

I have been so busy that I haven’t been able to bore you with my wordy posts! My husband and I traveled to Washington D.C. last week to attend the ordination of a dear friend; I can’t believe the silly guy I met 10 years ago is now a priest! The trip was wonderful but exhausting. We had 2 days at home and then did a 3 day retreat! It was rewarding but a lot of work; we were on the team presenting it and worked pretty hard. We hope to chill out a bit now.

My first class at Bead it! will be Wednesday afternoon- that is exciting too! I haven’t taught a class since the demise of beadniks in early May. So excited! One of my wordy posts recently was about the demise of beadniks Denver- I was disappointed to say the least and was wondering if I would find another place to teach different jewelry techniques. Today I spoke with Laurel, the owner of Bead it! and her manager, Jessie. I am excited to say that  I will be starting soon as an instructor of three classes with more to follow.  

I will fill you in when I get a schedule going. We have to figure out class times and gather the rest of the supplies.

Classes are hopping right along at beadniks  http://www.beadniks.com/highlandsranch/classes.php and I have thoroughly enjoyed meeting and teaching such fun and creative people! I did this little guy today during and after class. I made the flower while instructing Judy and Jen in my Artistic metals class. When it was over, I popped the little rivet through the flower to attach it to the pendant, which was worked on over the last couple of classes. Way to multi-task!

I was hoping to take pics of my latest shearing; I got a short, sassy haircut for spring, but I have puffy, red eyes from allergies. Perhaps tomorrow, if I pop a couple of benedryl, I can get a picture. My avi doesn’t look so much like me.

I went to Old Navy today looking for jeans- I wanted some from Gap, but decided to be frugal. I got to use a 30% off thingy because the cashier was nice; I saved another 9 bucks on top of the $30 less the jeans cost there as opposed to Gap. They are the same jeans for crying out loud! I have to go back and get the cute pink open-toed shoes with the little bow on them- and then, I will need a pedicure! What a job it is, being a girl :)

Here it is…

The cake escapade of 2010 is over; whew! I will say, it was fun; however, having so much to do at once isn’t. I felt a little like a fraud using pre-made flowers, but I knew that when I was called last Saturday to do this, I would accept any help offered. I picked the flowers up from the daughter of the couple celebrating their anniversary and felt relief that I would not be staying up all night for a week making crazy flowers that the kids would eat in 10 seconds!

I had a fun class yesterday; I taught a mother and daughter how to rivet. They have been such enthusiastic students and want to take the my resin class as well. I feel so flattered to be able to share my joy of creating with a great variety of people.

We have ignition!

My first class at Beadniks will be next Tuesday, Oct. 13th. I am soo excited! It will be a soldering class, my favorite! Stephanie, the owner, has been so wonderul getting all the things I need for the classes I am going to teach there.

The picture is of a scrabble tile pendant I made with Diamond Glaze. I did a mini-collage using different scrapbook papers. I think my first DG class will be on the 26th.

Eating raw is going well. I know that I am used to uncooked food now. I burned my mouth eating a thing today that wasn’t too hot. I had to have falafel at Garbazo’s today. I only had 3, which is a big sacrifice. I eat about 95% raw each day, and thought that the stuff there, hummus, veggies, etc. would be pretty tasty. The falafels burned my mouth though! I never thought about  that aspect of raw eating!
