Can you believe I am actually updating this?

I just finished working on a lens on Squidoo- I actually started and published it ages ago and forgot all about it. Some of the stuff is too hard for a busy, non-computer literate lady to figure out. I am fortunate that I remembered a tip from a twitter friend; use Picasa collage to do step-by-step pictures! Yay! Now all the steps are on there and I didn’t have to use html and code whosit and whatnot!

One big thing is to try to balance promoting my shop: http://www.beadsoul.etsy.com , creating, doing my medical transcription and my most fave thing, teaching at beadniks! I am lousy at balance, but do try. That is why there has been a lot of dust around here.  I also have had a huge fibromyalgia flare, which has made my dystonia go absolutely insane. I should have put up a note that I was taking a blog break, but frankly, I pretty much forgot about it, sad to say.

If you do feel like looking up the tutorial on squidoo, here it is in all its primitive glory! http://www.squidoo.com/lensmaster/new_workshop/how-to-create-wire-wrapped-briolettes

I have had a fantastic week! Look at all the guitar picks I made for people! There are three not pictured because they are more personal…I didn’t want to make anyone uncomfortable, so I left them out. If you need a custom piece, come to my Etsy shop. I will do my best to accommodate you! http://www.beadsoul.etsy.com

Pondering on why the sudden upswing in business gave me these answers: I have worked hard on marketing, it is Christmas time and people love personalized items- yup, that is all true! I believe the reason I had so many orders last week is that the big personalized jewelry people stopped taking custom orders a while ago. Those who still want something eventually found me! I worked hard to do things well and to include a lovely freebie- I want my customers to have an awesome experience and to come back :)

I will be back to show you the cool Christmas journals and Icon journals I am making. The fundraising is going great!

Busy but happy!

So it has been crazy the last few weeks, but it has been a good crazy. I took a little time off from here, but I am always doing all the other social networking stuff and feel its okay. I had a sick daughter, three birthdays including mine and a lot of people are taking classes to get ready to make Christmas gifts. Sales have been good and I just had my open house yesterday. Yup, I still have a pile of reports to type, but I am happy to have things to do that I love!

So nobody suffered too much if I didn’t post, and I got lots of cool custom commissions; here are a few in the pics. I even did a custom guitar pick- that was a kick!

I made it to the finals in the Beadstar competition! So pumped! If you would like to see my entry, go to the seed bead category, #7- the Dream bracelet. How fitting, since it seems like a dream that I am a finalist! Feel free to vote for me if you like it; vote for the best one in each category to choose who gets to be in the magazine released in December! You have the power to make the next Beadstar… Power hungry? Give it a whirl.

Really, there are some beautiful designs. I entered in all 9 categories. I am so happy that I pushed myself. I tried some things that I never would have done before; I think that is what its all about!

I had so much fun at beadniks on Saturday! I did a make and take workshop making handstamped pendants for Mother’s Day. Everyone left with some really cool pieces and I had a blast showing them how to do it. Each participant was eager to learn more metalworking and I have a new class up my sleeves. Hopefully by June we will have all of the equipment in to do a more advanced metalworking class where I will will teach cold connections and other fun stuff.

Hello! Did you think I froze to death in the blizzards we have had? No, just busy as heck!
I had a craft fair last Saturday, have been teaching 1 to 3 classes per week at beadniks and trying to get my stuff together for the next fair on the 28th. Oh, I forgot to mention that I still have transcription to do, etc.
This pic is of a pendant that I made for my friend and coworker to commemorate the birth of her 2-week-old daughter. I am happy with it and hope she likes it too!
I saw my neurologist last week and am happy to report that she will do Botox injections in my neck in December-that is, if it isn’t too much $$. Even with insurance, it could be pricey. It will hopefully tell the muscles in my neck which get tight and make my head bob and lean to the right to stop! I am sure it hurts like a big dog, but it should be worth it.
Well, typing awaits!
