My 17-year-old has gotten me on this kick of saying that; actually, I rarely say freak, but I try!
My wtf moment today was going into good ol’ (Insert name of cheap haircut chain here)to get my neckline trimmed. I have an A-line bob and the neck gets shaggy way before the rest of the haircut. Anyway, the girl goes to comb my hair and begin and says, “your hair is dry…you need to buy (insert well-known hair care product here)”. Well, I don’t know about you, but starting off that way is not going to work. I know from working for years in the salon that she has quotas on sales and makes commision. I also know that I won’t buy there anyway because I can buy wholesale. Also, talking to anyone that way won’t get you sales.
You can imagine the great confidence I had in her since my hair isn’t dry, its coarse. I use Redken and take good care of my hair. Anyway, she backpedaled and complimented me soooo much the rest of the time I was in her chair. I guess I am not very nice because I wasn’t buying it.
I typically do not state that I do hair because a stylist will tend to freak out, talk trash about the salon they work at, or just act nervous. It will come out most of the time because I mistakenly use jargon that gives myself away. I did manage to escape out of there with an okay neckline and without being “outed” as a hairstylist.
Other news- I am still trying to figure out the best incarnation for beadsoul…website, other handcrafted site, combo of the two… I am not in a rush as I have been having fun in the past week. Many nice people have bought things during my sale and I love adding in an extra gift for them!
