BTW- that is not me, but what I was shooting for, lol! I went through hair hell over the past month. As an “old” hairstylist, I get bored very easily, as I don’t do 10-20 hairstyles a day, much less a month. Guess what gets played with- yup, my hair!
So much for growing it out, I had it cut 3 times in the last month. It is tough for most people to work with as it is like wire. I like it now and will post a pic when I bother to put on some makeup. Being stuck indoor on a below 0 day is a good excuse to give the face a break!
One product you have to try is Agadir Argan Oil- it was called Moroccan miracle, but somebody sued someone or something. Anyway, it is awesome, makes your hair shiny and actually helps it dry faster! http://www.amazon.com/Agadir-Argan-Oil-Treatment-4-Ounce/dp/B001U9M2EW I also will brush my scalp with a soft bristle brush and then rub some into my scalp, leave it in for 10 minutes then shampoo- great scalp treatment for this dry Colorado winter!

What the freak?!

My 17-year-old has gotten me on this kick of saying that; actually, I rarely say freak, but I try!

My wtf moment today was going into good ol’ (Insert name of cheap haircut chain here)to get my neckline trimmed. I have an A-line bob and the neck gets shaggy way before the rest of the haircut. Anyway, the girl goes to comb my hair and begin and says, “your hair is dry…you need to buy (insert well-known hair care product here)”. Well, I don’t know about you, but starting off that way is not going to work. I know from working for years in the salon that she has quotas on sales and makes commision. I also know that I won’t buy there anyway because I can buy wholesale. Also, talking to anyone that way won’t get you sales.

You can imagine the great confidence I had in her since my hair isn’t dry, its coarse. I use Redken and take good care of my hair. Anyway, she backpedaled and complimented me soooo much the rest of the time I was in her chair. I guess I am not very nice because I wasn’t buying it.

I typically do not state that I do hair because a stylist will tend to freak out, talk trash about the salon they work at, or just act nervous. It will come out most of the time because I mistakenly use jargon that gives myself away. I did manage to escape out of there with an okay neckline and without being “outed” as a hairstylist.

Other news- I am still trying to figure out the best incarnation for beadsoul…website, other handcrafted site, combo of the two… I am not in a rush as I have been having fun in the past week. Many nice people have bought things during my sale and I love adding in an extra gift for them!paprika

I had a great day off from all types of work today. After sleeping in until 8:30, I made my husband and kids a nice Father’s day breakfast. We then got ready to go to the ballpark; I bought tickets to see the Colorado Rockies play the Pittsburgh Pirates. It was a fun game, Rocks 5 to 4.

I will have lasting memories of the game due to my raging sunburn. People don’t believe me when I say I need SPF 2000!

We wrapped up the day with a nice grilled chicken dinner and just hanging out. Back to the grind tomorrow; I have medical reports to type, pictures to take, hair to cut, etc. One good thing is that hubby is now on summer vacation. His being around is kind of a vacation for me as well!

Here is a picture I retook of my necklace, Tigress, that is listed in my Etsy shop. What do you think? Is this picture better?

Have a good nite!

Here is a picture of a new necklace I just listed this past weekend. I have had very few views on it due to a new SEO change that Etsy has made. I am not sure if I am going to keep pumping 20 cents their way four times a day to keep at the top of the listings, especially when all the listings aren’t being recognized by Google. Its not a really big deal, as most of my sales come from word of mouth or by wearing my pieces around town in my now-dented car!
I had a good morning catching up with my friend Katie today. I was giving her a haircut, (yep, I do that too), and just cracking up! We both are married to middle-aged teachers and whine about how cerebral they are.
Typical conversation with honey after work: R- what did you do today? Type reports, do laundry, take a nap, make a pair of earrings, etc. L- How about you? Oh, I was working on algebraic equations and whole math solutions with the kids today. It really helped their learning strategies. L-Huh?
No, he is a wonderful teacher and loves his kids. I just go to the Bahamas or somewhere when he gets all teacher-ese on me!
Worse for Katie, her husband teaches high school science; my husband teaches 2nd grade and I go numb!
The sweet man will be on summer break after Friday. Then we will have conversations about who will empty the dishwasher, etc. Let the fun begin!
