Just hammered out another #guitar pick #bracelet
Here she is…just in case you are not the voting type, I thought I would show you what made the finals: Introducing Sky Blue Dream… FYI! All supplies for this baby came from beadniks Denver, the awesome bead shop where I teach! Stephanie Lanker, the owner, is so committed to keeping the latest and greatest equipment and supplies in her fabulous store and is such a big support!
Darlene Jones is soooo amazing! She is the one who inspired me to enter the contest. She is a fabulous instructor, published jewelry designer and is the manager at beadniks. She not only has been a wonderful encourager, but has helped me to grow as a designer and instructor. Oh, might I add, she is one of my newest, but dearest friends!
Arlene Couchman, another instructor, fantastic designer and friend at beadniks, has also been super to learn/work with! Our late-nite bead fiestas, that’s what I just named them, have been so fun and inspiring. Her beadweaving is superb and never ceases to amaze me! One day I am going to try that too, Ar.
I can’t forget my sweet Ricky; he doesn’t like attention, but is the best hubby in the world! He even listens to me wax poetic about a stone that to him, must just look like a rock!
Lastly, but firstly is the Lord- I know I have said that I wouldn’t preach too much, but how could I not acknowledge the ONE who has blessed me in so many ways!
So, did it seem like I won an academy award or something? I just wanted to thank all of the wonderful people that have helped me grow!
It is so amazing to see all of the talented designs in the running. I had the hardest time figuring who to vote for… http://www.beadstar.com/
I made it to the finals in the Beadstar competition! So pumped! If you would like to see my entry, go to the seed bead category, #7- the Dream bracelet. How fitting, since it seems like a dream that I am a finalist! Feel free to vote for me if you like it; vote for the best one in each category to choose who gets to be in the magazine released in December! You have the power to make the next Beadstar… Power hungry? Give it a whirl.
Really, there are some beautiful designs. I entered in all 9 categories. I am so happy that I pushed myself. I tried some things that I never would have done before; I think that is what its all about!
Something new is brewing!
I am working on a new website that will be up soon! Keep checking in here to see the unveiling!
I made this bracelet with vintage lucite, the rose stones are imperial jasper and the blue-gray ovals are labradorite.
Teaching at beadniks is going well. I have quite a few classes coming up. I am enjoying the classes that I have been developing and really love working with such fun, creative people! We all learn during those 2 hours!
See you soon!
Bye Bye, Baby- Love you!
I feel that way sometimes when I sell one of my creations, especially this one. I am thinking that I will have to track some more of this lovely stone and make another bracelet like this-Just For Me! (Said with hands on my hips and a pout on my face!) The beadstore where I got it was out last time I went in; maybe she can order some for me!
My 17-year-old has gotten me on this kick of saying that; actually, I rarely say freak, but I try!
My wtf moment today was going into good ol’ (Insert name of cheap haircut chain here)to get my neckline trimmed. I have an A-line bob and the neck gets shaggy way before the rest of the haircut. Anyway, the girl goes to comb my hair and begin and says, “your hair is dry…you need to buy (insert well-known hair care product here)”. Well, I don’t know about you, but starting off that way is not going to work. I know from working for years in the salon that she has quotas on sales and makes commision. I also know that I won’t buy there anyway because I can buy wholesale. Also, talking to anyone that way won’t get you sales.
You can imagine the great confidence I had in her since my hair isn’t dry, its coarse. I use Redken and take good care of my hair. Anyway, she backpedaled and complimented me soooo much the rest of the time I was in her chair. I guess I am not very nice because I wasn’t buying it.
I typically do not state that I do hair because a stylist will tend to freak out, talk trash about the salon they work at, or just act nervous. It will come out most of the time because I mistakenly use jargon that gives myself away. I did manage to escape out of there with an okay neckline and without being “outed” as a hairstylist.
Other news- I am still trying to figure out the best incarnation for beadsoul…website, other handcrafted site, combo of the two… I am not in a rush as I have been having fun in the past week. Many nice people have bought things during my sale and I love adding in an extra gift for them!
I just renewed this bracelet to advertise the huge discount on it…I just had a good laugh when I re-read the listing. I must have been really pooped when I typed it up. It sounded like the beads were used! I said something like- bracelet is made from yellow glass beads, used teal crystals! Not, I used teal crystals!
Well, I am going to make some earrings for a friend now!
Bleary-eyed blogger! Here I am at 1:00 am, wondering what the heck am I doing? Today was a seriously unproductive day. This is a woman who feels such guilt when her day is like that; why? Dunno, but it is a really lame way to be. If the kids and spouse can be on vacation, why can’t I? I guess this blog is my own personal therapy couch! Going to bed now!
Hello everyone! I hope where you are is a bit warmer; brrr! To celebrate the cold, I created this icy-green bracelet yesterday for a friend’s birthday gift. It is made with clear quartz, green aventurine, peridot swarovski crystals, and silver disc beads; the toggle is sterling silver too. I hope she likes it and that you do too!
Have a great day!
