Between my hate of getting my photo taken, the piles of mess in my workshop and the madness that is my life, I have been putting this off; I just bit the bullet and here it is. There are probably many things to edit, but here it is for now!

This ring KARMA was really fun to do! I would love to have tons of inspirational words/sayings made and ready to roll, but there are too many size variables with rings. What fun I have— thinking of little phrases/sayings and words to stamp on stuff!

Ring Frenzy!

A quick hello here- Mother’s day is fast approaching and I am having a blast making these rings for some proud Mamas! I may need a new pair of eyes when I am done, but boy, this is fun!

The last picture shows a ring ready for stamping, as well as my messy worktable!

Go Spring!

Two seconds to say hi and show you the springy-lovelies in my yard. I love crocuses or is it crocii?

I also put up a pic of some hand stamped initial tags. Maybe I will get them in the shop today… running out the door now to see a friend for lunch. I then need to buy some flowers for a church function and practice some songs for it on my guitar.

Happy St. Patrick’s day!

Can you believe I am actually updating this?

I just finished working on a lens on Squidoo- I actually started and published it ages ago and forgot all about it. Some of the stuff is too hard for a busy, non-computer literate lady to figure out. I am fortunate that I remembered a tip from a twitter friend; use Picasa collage to do step-by-step pictures! Yay! Now all the steps are on there and I didn’t have to use html and code whosit and whatnot!

One big thing is to try to balance promoting my shop: http://www.beadsoul.etsy.com , creating, doing my medical transcription and my most fave thing, teaching at beadniks! I am lousy at balance, but do try. That is why there has been a lot of dust around here.  I also have had a huge fibromyalgia flare, which has made my dystonia go absolutely insane. I should have put up a note that I was taking a blog break, but frankly, I pretty much forgot about it, sad to say.

If you do feel like looking up the tutorial on squidoo, here it is in all its primitive glory! http://www.squidoo.com/lensmaster/new_workshop/how-to-create-wire-wrapped-briolettes

I’m a winner! How cool that I won a Whimsy Tree by http://www.etsy.com/shop/MsAnomaly for the Etsy beagles Happy howlidays team challenge! This is their blog: http://etsybeagles.blogspot.com/ Linda, the shop owner, was so sweet to donate a Whimsy tree for the prize. The picture above is not the one that I received; I am too dang lazy to take a pic; this is a cute one though!
Linda creates in a breakfast nook studio! That sounds so much nicer than “My daughter just moved out and her computer desk was too hard to move; just put your stuff down in her old room!” Anywho, I am thankful for the whimsy tree, check out this section of her shop for more! http://www.etsy.com/shop/MsAnomaly?section_id=7552143
Something else exciting- I reached my 100th sale today!!! Ironically enough, a member of the Etsy beagle team was the sweet person to help me break 3 digits. http://www.etsy.com/shop/happyhoundcreative Happy is also part of the Etsy Sneak team, of which I am a proud member. I have a few of her awesome paper items and love her work! She purchased something this morning, helping me to make sale 100! Thanks Haps!
Well, I am going to run; I am going to be baking Christmas goodies all day with the daughters! It will be loads of fun and probable a big mess too :)

I have had a fantastic week! Look at all the guitar picks I made for people! There are three not pictured because they are more personal…I didn’t want to make anyone uncomfortable, so I left them out. If you need a custom piece, come to my Etsy shop. I will do my best to accommodate you! http://www.beadsoul.etsy.com

Pondering on why the sudden upswing in business gave me these answers: I have worked hard on marketing, it is Christmas time and people love personalized items- yup, that is all true! I believe the reason I had so many orders last week is that the big personalized jewelry people stopped taking custom orders a while ago. Those who still want something eventually found me! I worked hard to do things well and to include a lovely freebie- I want my customers to have an awesome experience and to come back :)

I will be back to show you the cool Christmas journals and Icon journals I am making. The fundraising is going great!

That’s enough stuff, for goodness sakes!

Have you ever just bit off more than you can chew? I do, almost every day.

I have had a chance to gain a little insight and it will help me in my life and in my business. I spend so much time chatting, updating facebook, tweeting, (not so much blogging) etc, that I hardly have time to do the important stuff! You know, being with my family, creating, working; that sort of thing.

Anyway, the dh has been saying that he should just delete FB as he doesn’t really do much except look at pictures of our friends and their kids, etc. I said I can’t! I have my fan page! It is for my business! But is it really? I am chasing people with pics and little things and they find out what I am doing, or do they? I have a whopping 70 fans, many of whom found out about me on the Etsy forums and followed because I followed them. I adore anyone who would take the time to click and comment, but does it really matter?

Last month, when my dd had emergency surgery, I was with her in the hospital for 2 days. I didn’t tweet, facebook or blog; nobody really missed me. I also didn’t really miss it that much either. I believe that if someone finds my shop, likes what they see and purchases it, that is great! But I am not going to stress out over whether or not I am making any sales. If that happens, I will close up shop. I love creating and want to share it with others. Sales give me a nice feeling but so does a look of understanding and pride on a student’s face after they have learned a new technique and have created something that speaks to them. I love the creative process and as long as I can share it with someone, I am a happy camper! So, no more Facebook. I feel free! Maybe I will get necklaces done for the million pendants I have made!

Something I would really like to do: start blogging about techiques and provide tutorials and tips and such. If I was a computer whiz, I would already be doing that. I am not sure how to begin, but I will figure something out! You and the 5 other people that have read this will be the first to know!

Busy but happy!

So it has been crazy the last few weeks, but it has been a good crazy. I took a little time off from here, but I am always doing all the other social networking stuff and feel its okay. I had a sick daughter, three birthdays including mine and a lot of people are taking classes to get ready to make Christmas gifts. Sales have been good and I just had my open house yesterday. Yup, I still have a pile of reports to type, but I am happy to have things to do that I love!

So nobody suffered too much if I didn’t post, and I got lots of cool custom commissions; here are a few in the pics. I even did a custom guitar pick- that was a kick!

xoxo

Having fun with custom work!

It has been enjoyable to do some commisions for a couple of people; the trend of wearing a saying or name(s) of family members is still going strong. I feel so honored that I would get to be part of the process!

At beadniks, I am teaching the regular classes that I have been doing for about a year now as well as the 2 new ones, “Get Connected” and “Bubble Beauties”; cold connections and soldered glass marble pendants, respectively. The classes have died down significantly since school started, but I am noticing a trend of gradually increasing enrollment. It will be the giftmaking season soon, which will get things hopping again! It is not such a bad thing that is slowed down, as it allowed me to get into a routine of working more on my shop and getting used to school starting in my family too!

Let’s see if I can figure out the best way to provide tips and tutorials. I am not sure where to start but have many ideas!

Man oh man, do I have a lot to learn!

So I was all pumped about doing some soldering. Not the kind with a soldering iron, been there, done that, love it! No, real hardcore soldering with a torch and solder and all that fun stuff that can burn me or my house down! Anywho, I thought of an earring design that would incorporate soldered copper and silver rings. I cheated and fused fine silver because I had a bunch of that. Still have boo boo’s every now and then, but I am pretty comfortable with it. Copper, well lets just say there is a big learning curve. I used too much solder. Sand it off you say. Fine, but it shows on the copper as the solder is silver. So, lesson learned! It isn’t the most awful looking thing I have done, but not great, just the same! I can’t wait to try again- tomorrow is going to be a typing fiesta, so we shall see!

Blah blah blah- who cares? I want to focus on other things than my mess ups. On September 17th at http://beadniks.com/highlandsranch/ I will be unveiling two new classes that I will be teaching there! No, you can’t find out what they are now, but you can head to my shop on Etsy and look around; you may find a clue! Its absolutely riveting! www.beadsoul.etsy.com So I am excited and nervous about bead lounge. They do it once per month and have drawings and prizes. But I will be doing all this in front of a bunch of people! Well, I hope a bunch! Come in if you live in the Denver Metro Area and you can win cool stuff and even free class tuition!

Okay, I think I am tired of hearing myself talk; have a wonderful Labor Day!

Fun with metals!

So I have had a bit of fun this weekend: I was asked to do a custom design for a pair of earrings. I am anxiously awaiting the approval from the person who commisioned them. I will fill you in whether I got a yup or what the hell is that?

So classes at beadniks have been busy. They have had a lovely promotion for the month of July and I have loved having more students! I also am teaching a friend’s daughter some “beading 101” lessons at my home. She is a cute girl who wants to learn everything. She will be an amazing beader, that is for sure!

Testing out a new format for the blog. I was getting sick of all that purple, were you too? Bleh!

Well, have a nice rest of your July!
